Here are Finn and his Daddy-o waiting for guests to arrive for the party. I love this picture of these two guys. It makes me laugh.Uncles can only mean one thing...

When it was time for dinner and Chancho instructed the kids to fold their arms for the prayer, Finn did as he was told. He seemed so proud of himself when we all clapped for his good listening skills!
He thought that having everybody sing to him was the most awesome thing ever. He especially loves it when he gets attention from his siblings, so to have them surrounding him and singing to him almost made him burst with happiness. When I set the cake before him, he didn't know what to do so I gave him a taste of the frosting. He sat for quite some time, contemplating his next move. Eventually he used a dainty finger to try some of the frosting...then put a hand in...but tried to shake the frosting off.
Still confused, he finally put his hands on either side of the cake and just went in face first.
It is such a rewarding experience to give Finn a toy because he loves them so much and will give one his undivided attention--carefully turning it over in his hands, or touching it and listening and patting, and shaking, trying to figure out just what it is that the toy does.
Usually I only take the time to contemplate after an event, but on this evening, I just totally relaxed and truly thought about what it had been like to be in the hospital the year before, not knowing what would happen to my baby or to me. I felt such a peace and joy and appreciation for my life the entire night.
The next morning was Finn's "real" birthday, so the kids crept into his crib to sing to him again. I could hear him laughing and coo-ing. I tried to video it later, but, as you will see, there were the typical interruptions of an everyday morning. :)

That Grace has a good little voice. She could be a singer one day. I love to see mornings like mine! Happy Birthday to that precious, handsome, happy boy!
Ohh! Happy Birthday little cuz! I love all the pictures! The one of him and Jason is hilarious!
I love how ready Jason looks to have a rip roarin' good time in that first photo. BUT, my favorite thing of all is the cake documenting -- just how smiley and cute in that first one with the candle and then him just putting his face in it. Everything about his little shape is just so . . . I can't describe it, but so sturdy and perfectly solid and the roundness of his head -- it's just almost all toooooo much perfectness.
Oh, and you look pretty in your pic with him.
Oh, so cute! What a sweet, sweet dude! In some of those pictures he looks so much like Addy to me. And by the way, Lewis has those same jammies and the same ball popper--that is a very popular toy with all the kids at my house. :) Happy birthday to cute cute boy!
oh, such a fun day! i LOVE the pics of him in his high chair. he is so very cute! can you believe it's been a year? happy, happiest of birthdays mr finn!
O Shannon he is so cute. I cant believe how big he is.
Happy Birthday! What a darling little boy he is! I love those cheeks. Ruby had fun with her cake for a while, until she got frosting up her nose and then she kept trying to wipe it away with her frostingy hands. It all ended in lots of crying and a big bath.
I can't believe how big he is! You are all so beautiful!
I can not believe that a year has come and gone! What a blessing that Miles is doing so well. He is just a bundle of pure joy! I love how his siblings adore him so much! What a blessing to see so much joy! Happy Birthday sweet Miles! ~Mare
Oh I love that little Finnigan. Everytime I see him, even in photos, I just want to smile and squeeze the wonderful guy!
Finn is so cute I can't believe that he is a year old already! And SC looks great with braces we had to do the same thing with 2 of our girls and I think Destina will be there too! Scott should have be an orthodontist!
