I love Haiti. For nearly this whole trip, despite seeing horror and sadness and all kinds of things that can rip your heart into a million pieces, I felt more love and more peace than I've ever felt for Haiti. I can't explain it. The things that shocked me before were no longer shocking. I don't think I've become hardened. It was just a sense that I was right where I belonged.
One wonderful thing about this trip is that I had my new camera AND my sister's friend (and now my friend) let me borrow one of her lenses. I was loving it. Took over 800 pictures. Of course there are many stories to tell and events to record for my journal, but for now, here is just a little sampling of my trip.

I love every single photo and miss Haiti. I was there just a year ago right now!! Well maybe someday you will need me but now that Mary is your new sister I guess the rest of us can forget it - JK - glad she got to go and all those other people that weren't me.....oh I am so funny at 12:42am...
Wow, Shan, you caught such great images of things -- they told so much with out even having words. I also looked through Mary's fb pics the other day and she had some stuff posted below that told a lot too. Wow.
P.S. Who lent you the lens and what was it. I don't even know what makes a lens spectacular.

Shannon! I'll be honest, I'm pretty jealous you had that rad camera with you - it makes a HUGE difference, and I feel like I'm right back at the guest house or riding on a tap-tap in the heart of Port-au-Prince when I look through them. I wanna go back with my good camera. You have pictures I was dying to take, but never had the right angle for when we were driving by. I feel so blessed to have been able to go with you. Thank you SO much for all the behind-the-scenes work you and the H.R. gang did that us students never saw. You're an angel! I would go again in a heartbeat. I love the country, the people, and their smiles! I saw so many more people smiling there than here in the USA. It's sad but true, but I guess we just don't know what we have until we're forced to live without. Thank you! I'm anxious to talk with you again soon about the school, etc.
