Sweetness Fever

A few weeks ago Miles was sick.  He had a fever that would not go away.  It would get up to 102 or so, I'd give him some tylenol or ibuprofen and it would go down a bit, but once the medicine wore off, the fever would be back up.  After 7 days I started to get worried.  We have had the West Nile Virus killing and hospitalizing dozens (maybe hundreds now?) of people in the DFW area.  I took him to our pediatrician who tested him for the flu.  He said that wasn't it--an unknown virus, but didn't seem to concerned about West Nile.  By that point Miles had contracted a bacterial sinus infection, so he gave us some antibiotics for that and just suggested I continue with the tylenol and motrin until he was better.  And that is what I did.  And he eventually got better.

Nobody wants their child to be sick.  But whatever this virus was turned my Miles into the sweetest, most perfect little boy on the face of the Earth.  For the entire 10 days or so that he was sick, he was nothing but angelic.  Happy to take his medicine, snuggle, would only talk kindly, would do anything I asked, etc. etc.  I'm sure this sounds silly but I actually started to get paranoid that he was going to die because he was just too too precious.

Some of the cool things he said during this time period:
Miles: "Dad, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
Jason: "I'm not sure.  What are you thinking?"
Miles: "I don't know."

Miles: (As Jason was getting ready to leave for work) "Okay Dad.  Bye.  Have a good day at work.  Remember not to punch anyone in the face."

As I said, luckily Miles recovered.  And with his normal body temperature, also returned his normal personality.  Which is still very sweet, but not all the time angelic.  And that is good...sugar and spice is not what boys are made of.  What is a boy with out snips and snails and puppy dog tails...and...a time out in the bathroom for shouting "shut up" at Mom, followed by personal encagement in the sink?  (He was instructed to sit on the little stool until he was ready to come out and speak kindly.  He defiantly climbed into the sink and then was stuck).  Still...he definitely has me wrapped around his chubby little finger.

Oh these two posts were so great and had me laughing away at all the contradictions of these little ones. I hate not knowing Lila and wish so bad Miles and Jesse could start actually playing together. And why does Miles say and do such ridiculously awesome stuff? I loved him all grumpy in the sink.

There IS something similar about Miles and Israel. Can't quite put my finger on it, but they're both utterly awesome.

Hahahahahaha. Oh awesome. That made me chuckle so hard to see his sulky face while he's stuck in the sink! This was a great post. I do love when the littles are sweet and lovey when they're sick. I hate when it goes the other way and they're just crabby. :)
