Five Months Old

Baby Girl has already passed the five month old mark.  I've been meaning to do an update for quite some time.  I'm trying to get lots of video.  She just doesn't want to stay a baby!  At her four month well child visit she weighed 14#7oz (75%) and was 26" tall (95%).  She has had some major growth since then.  We haven't started her on any solid food yet.  Because I have so many allergies and because she is growing so well, our pediatrician suggested we just wait until she is about 7 months, but she is so interested in food whenever one of us are eating...I don't know if we can hold her off.

Oh, and I forgot if I already blogged about the fact that we got Lila's ears pierced.  I didn't think I could do it to a baby, but the girls were begging me and I saw these little pearls for Lila Pearl...and we did it.  I think they look precious.

Lila continues to be the most mild mannered, sweet baby imaginable.  She doesn't really eat a lot--the most she'll ever eat at once is 6 ounces and that is rare.  Its usually just 4 ounces.  But her body seems to utilize it all very well!  She is very social.  She loves it if you sing to her and she'll start cooing right back at you.  When I feed her before bed I often try to sing to her, like I did with my other babies, but she immediately stops eating, smiles, and starts singing back.  Its so cute.  She smiles constantly and does all kinds of cooing and spitting with her lips.  She is very good with her hands and tries to grab everything.  She loves the few little toys that I have hanging from the handle of her carseat.  I can't read any longer while holding her because she wants to grab the book or magazine.  She is still quite snuggly and will, on occasion, still sleep on my chest, though she is getting more accustomed and is beginning to prefer sleeping in her own crib.

Lila is such an amazing blessing to our family.  We all love her so much.  Of the kids, the all love her, but I think Deedle feels the most attached to her.  She ADORES her and always asks if she can go wake her up from naps (NO) and things like that.  She's very helpful when I'm trying to make dinner or whatever it is where Lila needs attention.  The only thing that the three oldest kids despise is when she spits up on them.  Lila isn't really bad, but she does still spit up from time to time and they DO NOT like it.
