Yes, it is summer now and all of the kids are home but I was just thinking about what was perhaps the biggest benefit of homeschooling Addie the past few months. As she was able to be the only "big" sibling at home during the day, she happily took on that role. I think she also emotionally matured from some things. Some how these last months she has been able to be the caring, loving, big sister rather than the other sibling who often was in competition or pretty much in most ways seemed to be on Miles same emotional level. What a blessing. She is a very good big sister and loves these little ones quite madly. She makes bottles for Lila and then hefts her up onto her hip, up the stairs, down the hall, and will lovingly put her in her crib for a nap. She's the only sibling right now whom Lila will allow to do that. My mom always prayed that my siblings and I would be each other's best friends. Oh how I pray for that for my little ones as well!!!

That is so nice for Addie. I think Ethan struggles with that middle kid stuff too--always feeling outshone by Ellie, never getting as much attention as the little ones. It's so good for them to get some time to be themselves without being defined by comparison to an older sibling. (Her hair looks so beautiful, by the way!) And nothing warms my heart more than seeing my kids be all lovey to each other. Love you, Shan!
Yes, see, these are great pics. And, I think that is totally true. All of my older three kids become a thousand times better at being a big sibling to the little ones when they are the only one around. Interesting. And yah, I have friends who really aren't that close to their siblings. Can you imagine that? Please oh please let my kids be best friends and my girls have what I have with my sisters!!!! . . . And with their cousins too?? How's that for an awesome support system!
