So, this is leap year. A very, very special year. This year has one more day than the old "common year". I felt it would be very important for me to write something to commemorate this special day. Regrettably I can think of nothing important. I keep pressuring myself, "Come on, mush brain, think of something. This day won't come around for another FOUR more years. THINK OF SOMETHING!" Nada. I even tried to start to read an article describing the complex process in which a leap year is calculated using the Gregorian, Julian, Chinese, Hebrew, Hindu, and Iranian calendars. BOOORING. So, forget it. All I can think about are two of my favorite photos.
The first is in honor of one of my jib lurkers. Kelly, if you read this, you bette
r leave a comment. Kelly and I have been friends for approximately 28 years. We don't smoke and never have. We don't fight, but sometimes did. These photos were taken, along with some others that could easily be used as blackmail about 13 years ago with our friend, Anthony. They were taken at the Haunted Mansion on 25th Street where two of my brothers forced their wives to live and where one nearly lost his life when a ghost did some painting in the house which caused an allergic reaction in his brain resulting in headaches and a CRAZY note he left for his wife when we took him to the ER. (Megan, don't bother telling me to take a look at those orbs in the photo. Yeah, I noticed. But its called the reflection of the flash in the window.) And also, speaking of the haunted paint incident, just ask Meg about paint allergies in our family. Oh, I feel SO sad for you. You can't be around certain wet paint smells. That is just awful. What a terrible allergy to have. I'M ALLERGIC TO MY HAIR.
The second photo was taken at a birthday party in Meg's backyard about 5 years ago. She got out the slip and slide. My nephew, Carson, loved it. He is just about as relaxed on the slip and slide as he is playing basketball. And if you are wondering, neither of these photos was taken on leap year.
Oh man. I'm cracking myself up with all of my wise cracks. Good night and happy leap year.

Leap Year

I just showed sweets and we laughed and laughed at you and Kelly. Ah,the good old days. It's awesome you're still friends after THAT fight. Well, here is something, and it IS about leap year. My second cousin's (whose name has left me just now) birthday is today. How bad would that suck? Hi, I'm sorry, but we won't be celebrating your birthday today, try me back in 4 YEARS!
I love that little dude's intensity with things. He was an awesome slip and slider if I remember correctly. Anywho, blah blah blah...love you for posting something new.
Speaking of ghosts...I've had to learn to live with them at My house. Yeah, every once in a while Treatums will freak out and tell me there's "a guy" in our front room. Or there was the other night when I had just finished changing his diaper after bed and I saw that he was staring intensely at something behind me. I asked him "Treatums are you ok?" Treatums: "Yeah. Who's that guy?" Me, wanting to whip around and karate chop someone in the face...change the subject. "Oh, that's a cool picture of your Grandpa on a pony, huh? Maybe someday you can ride a pony. That would be fun". Him: "Who's that guy?" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!
um...unless "that guy" is your loving dead grandpa or something, I think its time for you to get the hell out of that house.
And birthdays...yeah, I'm pretty sure London's is today.
Once Megan kept snapping pictures everywhere in the house and showing me the freaky orbs. THen she snapped a picture of Rocky and there were at least 30 orbs on his back!! GHOSTS living on ROCKY"S BACK!!!! We also then discovered (online) that dust particles can have a similar effect, but I think Rocky's were little ghosts -- dog or human ghosts?? You tell me.
I have read about those dog ghosts. They are actually the haunted spirits of 17 fleas, 8 ticks, a lady bug, and 4 innocent little potato bugs that Rocky scratched and killed with his hind leg simply because he felt an "itch". He's like, "I got an itchin to kill some things." So, now they haunt him forever. I mean now Rocky and the insects haunt Megan forever.
P.S. I know she doesn't "post" much, but why can't you love by-yammy enough to put her blog on the side of your blog???
P.P.S. YES, I finally got a visit from Ukraine!!!Huh??
So I go so happily to the blog to find nothing but pure unadulterated mockery. And the one time there really would be an Orb you say its from the flash reflection. O boy....And once I'm not such crazy mom I will start blogging it. O we did just get a home. So good news there. Meg
Ana and I had an in depth discussion about leap year. I think we concluded the only thing "special" about it is if your birthday happens to fall on it and you're turning 12, but really only three. WEIRD!
That photo of you and Kelly is about one of MY favorite things ever and I wasn't there obviously, but I feel like those were definitely more "carefree" days and I know that Nank & I definitely have some photos like that of us. I think that would have been around the time that I may as well have been living at your parents' house. That's how often I was over there.
I do know all about the Haunted House on 25th street. I think I was only there approximately twice and it was during the day and I was totally freaked out, so yah. Good times! Those silly brothers of yours thinking they could just live there.
And who's face doesn't totally look like that on a slip-n-slide? I don't think you can have a normal face while participating in such an activity.
Thanks, Jess. This blogging thing has actually brought back a lot of memories of the old days. I'm not sure why. I guess because I've heard from all three of you gigglo-maniacs which hasn't happened for a long time. Those were fun times. I wish we could have appreciated them even more! I sure do in retrospect!
