Nappy Roots

Click Play to create the proper ambiance for this post.

A few days ago Chancho and I got new cell phones. Then today he bought me a tiny little memory card for the phone and showed me how I can just hook my phone right to my computer and quickly download photos.

Tonight during family night, Loumy sat on my lap as we all played "Feed the Kitty". I started messing with his hair that I've been braiding and twisting for the last couple of months. I wondered if it would be possible to undo twists I had made. To my surprise, I could! Having lost my own hair over two years ago, I enjoy messing with my children's as much as they will allow me. So, I started unbraiding and untwisting Loumy's hair until he could tolerate no more. His nappy head totally inspired me to try out the new camera phone (photos aren't great but aren't terrible and definitely a quick way to snap photos on the go). These photos of Loumy also reminded me about the song that should be playing while you read this post.

Jason introduced me to a cool group quite some time ago by the name of Nappy Roots. In fact, I think we listened to this song "Po' Folks" a lot while dating. Little did I know that some day I would have my own little son with his own nappy roots! In case you aren't sure what I mean by nappy, please see the photos below:

What's with all the "how", "why" and "ahhhs!"? Do you mean How did I get such a cool son? Why did I get such a cool son? I can only say that it must be my reward for having to get Hepatitis and lose all my hair to be able to bring him home. Maybe?

The fact that he has a pick in his hair and is throwing up a peace sign is quite awesome!

I always love reading your blog...and I watched "Nacho Libre" over the weekend and was wondering if that was where your husband picked up his nickname from? Regardless, it made me laugh extra hard this time around when Jack Black said, "Chanco...let me borrow some sweats!"
