Another Celebration

One thing that Loumy really loved about turning 4 is that it put him and Deedle on level ground. Somebody would ask, "You had a birthday?" And he would quickly say, "Yes and Deedle is 4 just like me." He enjoyed this immensely for three days. Alas, the party ended for him when Deedle turned 5 today.

It was a very special day for my little princess. It started out very magically. We awoke to snow on the ground. And LOTS of it coming down, too! It continued snowing well into the afternoon. This is one of the earliest snowfalls that I can remember. Fittingly, SC suggested that Jesus made it snow for Deedle's birthday to remind her she is special, and to make up for the fact that she was only having family at her birthday party and no friends. :) After church we helped the kids into their winter clothes (Loumy needs new everything, he has grown SO much since last spring!) and they had a great time playing outside until we called them in for lunch and hot chocolate.

I think I will do another little walk down memory lane for Deedle.

12 October 2003...One year...
Two years...Three years...
Four years...Five years...here she is out in the snow...blowing out her candle (she wanted just the one)...enjoying the cake...checking out a gift...and standing next to the "pin the crown on the princess game" which String Cheese created for us to play.Princess Deedle, I am so in love with you. You are certainly a spitfire and know how to rile your siblings up. But you have a love and a kindness about you that shines through. I love it when we snuggle during naptime and you hold my hand (or just a finger) until you fall asleep. You are our little brainchild--your preschool teachers say you're "too smart for your own good," (whatever that means). You can get upset easily, but you calm down quickly, too. You are hilarious! You constantly have me and Dad laughing. There is something about you that heals me. Especially when my emotions are unstable, I can hold your heart to mine and there is some kind of real communion that takes place and literally helps to heal me. I am so blessed to have you in my life!

Do not under any circumstance tell ET that you made one of those Barbie in a Bowl dress cakes! Oh she would never let me live that down! Never!

And I do believe that this little Deedle Doo looks a whole lot like you! (I didn't even mean for that to rhyme but so pleased that it does.)

I liked that Loumy pronounced the snow her's. So Loumy like to let her be the Birthday Snow Queen. And what fun that she will always remember her #5 as the year it snowed so early in the season!

Happy B-day to your little Deedsy. We have gone ourselves to pretty much family b-days. I will probably let them have a freind one now and then, but it is kind of nice to have it be all a special family thing celebrating a siblings b-day. Nice freakin' cake by the by. Daisy would have cried had I made her one.

Oh how little Deedle will LOVE to read this when she is older. I sure loved when my dad wrote special things about me. The pictures were awesome, especially the first one, which looks like it belongs in a magazine or something.

I still remember when my mom made me a barbie dress cake! I loved it!

It's so fun to see how much she resembles you and your family! She's a doll!

Deedle Deedle! Happy Birthday! I LOVE every single thing that comes out of that little ones mouth! She is so inquisitive and yes, she IS smart, but not "too smart for her own good". I love the little spitfire as well! Nice work on her Barbie cake! Did you make it? I noticed all her cakes were all creative and cute...even if you did buy them, you're a good mom to do it on their special day. I always make a box cake for every single person in our family and they better like it and eat it!

That was so sweet that SC thought the snow was from Jesus. I love how little kids think. Especially since it was making up for the fact that only family would be attending the b-day festivities.
