Scripture Power

Zhateal posted a cool little video of her family trying to get ready for their nightly scripture reading ritual. It made me laugh because ours are usually the same. Every night before bed we have several rituals that we go through. Near the end of the evening we read scriptures and pray together, then Dad flies the kids airplane style into their beds and I give them lullabies. Some nights it goes smoothly, but most nights its anything but that.
On this occasion, I hear Chancho shouting in a sing-song way, "Scripture power, keeps us safe from sin!" So, I think that we are ready to begin. Instead I get this:

And a ten minutes later, there is still no improvement:

But, in the end, the scriptures are read, the prayers are said, and I'm happy that the kids love playing with their dad so much!
P.S. Although I just posted this tonight, the video was taken several days ago, so we can't blame it on the Halloween excitement or the sugar high. Just a normal evening around here.

Oh that is just way too familiar. Although with us its usually not the dad that's playing around and throwing pillows, it's that teenagers. And for whatever reason, Sharktooth has to use the bathroom, the extended version, EVERY night DURING scriptures, after we've already gotten started.

Dang, I am so jealous of how your kids just sit there all reverently. Sheesh. I feel like a loser mom now.

Hey, I have one of those 6 foot kids too! Most of the time they are the hardest ones to "get reverent"! Agree!? These are my most favorite moments at our house though. I often watch and try to soak every second of it in, because time is truly going so fast!

So cute! It's funny how I think it is cute when your kids won't settle but not at all funny when my kids won't settle...something to think about I guess!
