Little Things that Hurt My Heart

We have 20 new children that we are adding to Haitian Roots. That will bring us up to 133 children. We hope and pray that we will be able to raise the funds necessary to provide them all the education they so desperately need and that their parents dream for.

I recently received their applications and copies of the pictures that Chareyl took in June. The children are, naturally, very beautiful and mostly I am just excited and full of hope. But it is funny how the little things are what break my heart.

Take this cute father and daughter. This little girl is Jesula. She is 6 years old. Her parents love her very much but are currently unemployed. Unemployment rate in Haiti is very high. They know how important education is and took this opportunity to meet Chareyl and fill out an application very seriously. I can only imagine the difficult circumstances surrounding Jesula and her family. But for some reason it is her dad's signature (Joseph Lasson)
and her oversized shoes that I noticed from the corner of another photothat hurt my heart the most.

Hm...

Wow, so sweet. Yes, I agree. I am so glad that you are doing HR and that will make less things to hurt down the road. It's amazing how wonderful the people are in Haiti... ~mare

That was a great experience meeting all the children and families that wanted to be part of HR, you could feel the love they had for their children, they want so much for their children to have a better life. The kids were so cute and loved having their pictures taken and the parents were happy to be in the pictures as well. Thanks for your vision and insight to start and run such a great program!

Me too. There is nothing about their circumstances that could have made me cry any more than I am right now. Seriously, tears are just streaming down my face. I can't even explain why.

I know...Look at what neat people they look like. And it makes me want to cry too just seeing how very hard they try to do what they can. I love you and can see more and more why these dear people mean so much to you. If you don't think your calling is divine, then ask yourself why from when you were so young you decided that you needed to adopt from Haiti? And why you already had tjhat desire placed within you so early.

Oh Shan...that is a tear jerker. There is nothing like that parental love.

That just makes me realize how truly blessed we are. Sure we all have our little trials and some that seem rather large at the time. But how blessed are we that we get to be born to goodly parents that live in America where things come so much easier. I'm so glad you are trying to bring some happiness to their lives.
