Girls Day Out

Above all other things, there was one fact about Dallas that assuaged the girls grief about leaving their grandparents, cousins, and the only home they'd ever known. Dallas has an American Girl Doll store. Promises of a visit was their Balm of Gilead. We'd told them we'd go "one day" and Friday was that fateful day of reckoning. We went with Aunt Vicki and Cousin Bug (Caroline). The girls adore these two, as do I. Hearing the giggles, squeals of delight, the "ooos" and "ahhhs" of little girls all around makes the store a very magical place. Everything is very expensive, but the lay out and displays are all so fun and their are no prices or sales screaming at you, so it is really fun to just look.Of course there had to be some small purchases. Deedle found a craft book and a zebra-print dress for her doll. String Cheese chose a "restaurant kit" book and a school supplies kit for her doll. I am too tired to think of much else to say about the day except that we love Bug and Vicki, we love being together, and it was just a really happy day!

I miss those girls!! Oh, and is that the free seven slings sling? Hmm. I hope mine will work at all. I think it is too small to hold more than a baby ghost.

Nancy, the sling is the wrap one. You must have one. The seven sling is lame. this is really the only thing that works and it is so perfect for when they are tiny and just snuggle in, then, if you look closely, she's in 2 different positions in this post now that she's a bit bigger. yesterday i had her facing outward at the library and she loved it. they are so snuggled close to you that they feel like you're holding them but you have both hands free. she can lay down in it still but i'll keep her legs out and then i can feed her bottle easily that way. now that i'm in the primary presidency and jas is teaching primary, i put her in the sling all during primary and she's just as happy as can be while i conduct or do whatever i need to do. its been thee best. with miles i used it when he was in the swaddling stage but then gave it up after that instead of trying these other things. but the more you get the hang of it, the happier thing it is! so, i think you said that maybe you have one that i had in some maternity clothes or something. if not, let me know, because i think i have an extra. or you can make one. it just has to be stretchy and 18 inches wide by 18 feet long.
