...your love is gone. Gone baby gone, your love is gone away...gone away... (a prize for whomever names the artist first)
Today my sweet little love, String Cheese (although I'm thinking I might need to change her name to something prettier--any suggestions?) started first grade. Although the first few days are "short days", she is still gone from 8am to 1:30 these first few days, then won't be home until 3:30 on regular days! I am sure I will get used to it. Many things were easier today with her away at school. I was forced to get up early and walk SC to the bus, so then I took Deedle and Loumy to the gym with me. Then they played very nicely together while I mowed the lawn. Two kids are easier than three, that is for sure. But I felt very emotional and raw all day. I don't like giving up my grip on these little ones!
"Okay Mom, seriously! Stop taking pictures now! I'm starting to get embarrassed!"

OK, so I can totally sing the whole song. "Beautiful girl love your dress, beautiful smile oh yes . . ." but who, who? The Cure? Depeche Mode? Hmmm.
So, first, Daisy has that same Sassy shirt, and second, Grace looks so so cute and oh so grown up. Seriously, just so much taller than she seems in real life! Why is school 8-3:30? Ours is 8-2:30 (or is it just that with bus time and all). Anyway, i can so relate. It makes me sick when I send them to school . . . of course I am a little sick that I will be having them not at school and making sure they stay on task the next few months as well . . . so . . .
I loooooved that cutie little picture of her looking coy - a little nervous, a little happy, that school is starting and she is going all day and her mom is not and her mom is taking lots of pictures. I like how she is half turned as if to know the future is fun but that you are her world. Very sweet. And yes, less is more at home, most days, but oh, how nice it is that they come home and tell you all the highs and lows. At 6, at 10, at 13, and yes, even at age 16!!!!
What a cutie!!! My sons start K and preK in two days. I know how it feels. It will be nice to have them gone, to get some things done, but at the same time it's so hard to let go. They are my babes. Thanks for sharing those cute pictures.:D
I feel your sadness! Elle started kindergarten yesterday, and she was crying when I left which made it even harder. She loved it though! Anyway, I am sure Grace will appreciate all the pics down the road.
Can you believe they're going to 1st grade? Craziness huh? She looks so cute!
Hey it's VIOLENT FEMMES! Thanks Nancy for singing the song. By the way tell MUGSY to invite me to her private blog!
Oh, you poor thing! I seriously felt the pain coming out of the blog. I guess I'll know what you're going through next tuesday when I send Nanny off to Kindergarten. I loved the "mom, that's enough pictures" face!
Check out my blog to see a cute picture of your little two.
Very cute pics. That's crazy she's in first grade already. I remember her when she was a lot smaller! I think it would be emotional sending your baby off to school, but I bet it does make things easier to have 3 at home instead of 2!
I totally knew it was Violent Femmes...love that song. SC looked very cute in all the pics. I especially like the one of her getting on the bus. I've always wanted a picture like that but I'm afraid my kids would kill me. I asked Tyler Monday if I could follow him to the bus to take pictures. For some reason he just shook his head in disgust. Good job capturing all the emotions of the first day of school. She will LOVE looking back on that.
It is sad when your first gets on the bus and leaves and even more sad when you put your last on the bus. Before I knew we had two little girls coming to join our family I had to put my "last" on the bus. I cried for months because I didn't have my little buddy anymore. I think you should keep string cheese's name. I think it is dang cute. She is pretty enough herself that she doesn't need a pretty name.
What a cute blog. I love the your names. SC hair is so cute.
First days always bring out a whole array of emotions. It's so exciting to see them growing up and yet so sad at the same time.
good job dancing nancy #2 and pooka. it is it violent femmes. i will have to think about what your surprise will be...
and did anybody notice how one of the school kids with her back to SC has a complete rat's nest in her hair, is wearing a ratty old nightgown and is carrying her "melky"? oh wait, that wasn't a school kid. just deedle.
She looked absolutely enchanting for her first day of school! I loved her hair! You always do such cute and creative things with their tresses.
It is hard to have them go; especially to full day. I thought THAT transition would be harder on me than it was..you know with Chookie making the same cahange. However, it wasn't and it's probably because she had her big sister the whole time. THAT was comforting.
I've thought of some possibilities for String Cheese: Angel Hair (like the pasta, but true to her pretty hair), Goldie Locks (although I do picture her with curlier hair), Princess (duh), Starry-eyed surprise (long and sounds like a race horse!), I don't know, that's all I have for now.
Those corn rows or what ever you may call it on the girl is so stinking cute on Grace! I love the Grace all big girl off on the bus!!
