...you should check this out! I mean, you should always donate to Haitian Roots when you are in a donatin' type of mood. Or come up with a cool fundraiser to do for us or something. But if you want to help Haiti in a different way and get something super super cool out of it, too, check out these cards on my friend, Lori's blog. These cards are handmade from banana leaves by women in Haiti, so you are helping them to feed their families and also, the rest of the proceeds go to feed little starving orphans! And by the way, if you are broke like me this time of year, you still aren't broke like Haiti!

Oh, those is cool...
Is that the orphanage that Loumy came from?
Speaking of bananas, could your husband make us some more of those fried plantains? Mmmm.
What a great point, very true! ;)
Hi Perla,
I tried to purchase the sunset banana cards and it wouldn't work....is there a way to purchase them with a check? I also tried to post on her website and couldn't, maybe because I don't have a blog?
Thanks,
Laurie
Perla,
So sorry...what a bad friend I am. I just read your post about alopecia and my heart is wanting to give you a big hug. I have looked to you in the past year on how to deal with this crazy auto-immune disease thinking that you were perfect and invincible and had the whole world and life all figured out. This quote is how I see you,
You are the wind chime,
Tho the wind blows and the storms rage,
You always turn it into beautiful music.
You have always showed so much kindness and compassion. You are a wonderful and beautiful woman!
I guess because you are so kind and strong I didn't realize you might have days that are hard because of the alopecia. A friend sent an email today that said "Sometimes the people who seem to have it all together are the ones who might need your love the most." I guess we all feel that way.
Love,
Laurie
I love you to pieces Shannon!! I have been reading some of your blogs, and my stomach just clenched up tight as I thought of you having to shave your hair. You are beautiful in and out. Not a lot of people can lay claim to that.
