Favorite things so far...

...Its been a little gloomy today with clouds, cold, nausea, and shooting rib pain that makes me feel angry every time I move. Chancho called me just after lunch because he saw something that made him sad. He said he saw a very, very small Hispanic man sitting at a table by himself. He looked to probably be homeless and had many different ticks and maybe Autism or something. He had a drink and was trying to put the straw into the top. He couldn't do it. Or he would get it in and then would accidentally pull it back out. Chancho just felt very saddened by the whole scene and wanted to tell me about it for some reason. I'm glad he did because he reminded me that some pain in my ribs and a disorganized house are really nothing to be gloomy about! I thought I better share some of my Texas favorites so far, in no particular order:
Th e first, and most important: People to love who also love us! For moving 1400 miles away fromthe place I've always called home, there sure are a lot of people that I love hanging about!

My big brother, Aaron, lives less than 10 minutes from us with Allison, whom I have always
considered a beloved sister and friend, and their six awesome kids! Aaron is almost exactly 3 years older than I, and we always had a very close relationship growing up. The love I've felt from him has truly helped me to understand more what the love of my brother, Jesus Christ, must feel like. I feel SOOO lucky that we get to live near them!
Catherine (who happens to be Allison's sister) lives just 3 houses away. She is the one who helped us find this house. She has become an immediate and dear friend, as has the rest of her family. Her second child is SC's same age and her son is Loumy's age. All six of our oldest kids combined are going to the same elementary school and want to play together constantly. We hoped they would get along well but didn't imagine it would be this well! What a blessing. Matt, C's husband, is super cool, too. Welove them a lot.
And looky here. The Lord decided to bring some of His most elect women to Texas at the same time. Haha! Not just the same time but we ended up arriving the SAME day. All I have to do is take a quick (and pretty) jaunt past the famous South Fork Ranch...
...and there is my friend Jana. We both, with out knowing about the other, felt like we were being drawn to this very area and were so excited and thrilled when we found out the others' plans. I can't wait to hang out with her more!
Paul and Vicki, Chancho's aunt and uncle, let him live at their house for nearly 2 months and treated him like gold. They have been so gracious and kind. We all love them. Vicki is beautiful, gentle, kind, fun, and full of grace. We all love her, but especially Deedle.
Besides letting us stay with them, Vicki and her daughter Bug came over to help unpack the girls rooms and bought us dinner last week. We're so grateful they are close!
Chancho has another aunt and uncle who live here and two of their sons are some of his closest friends, ever since childhood. Nik and Katie and Jim and Cheryl are both super cool and fun to
hang out with, as are their kids. We spent New Year's Eve with them and had a great time (and I dominated in Trivial Pursuit. :) )
Anywho...as you can imagine, although this move is huge for us and it is hard to leave the place I have known as home for all but 18 months of my life, our parents, and other siblings, we do feel very, VERY blessed to have so many super cool people around here to love!

All these pictures make me so happy, and a little jealous. Yes you miss everyone here, but how spectacular to be close to and bonding with all these other people!

P.s. my favorite thing about these pics is finn in the photo with you and jana -- his hair all messy and his eyes squinting into the sun. Oh, and of course you dominated trivial pursuit -- you little smarty you.

Well, haven't you been a busy little blogger lately - and WHOO-HOO to me being featured on this favorites, right in between all the family and Joan Collins! Really, this might just be the fame I've always craved: Jana Thorley Receives Top Billing in Famous Blog! Yes, I have arrived in the high life!

It really was so fun to see you last week. I can't wait to spend some time next week when all my chickadees are out stretching their wings once and for all! Maybe a nice walk in a park and then lunch? My treat? Oh, Nancy will be jealous if she reads this. Maybe we should tell her ... unless of course she clicked the button that informs her of every little comment and then she'll just know and be home sobbing. Sigh.

And, I must tell you that you are the luckiest girl on earth that you have so many people instantly around you? We had that once in Vegas and it was so nice. But mostly, we just move around from place to place all lonely like, trying to be a socialite like Joan Collins. Again, sigh.

And what of this rib pain!?! NO. GOOD!

Oh, and also, I'm stealing this photo of the two of us. I warned you when you took it but I'm just courtesy warning you again. That's what friends - ones in the same city - do.

I should not comment in the early morning hours. I tend to leave out very crucial words out of sentences. But, I think you can figure it out. Or at least I hope you can and if not, we'll just have to call each other and discuss. ;)
