First Day of School

I think my kids are pretty amazing. Chancho and I were talking last night about all the changes we've gone through in the past 12 months. At this time last year we'd just left our home, moved in with my parents, started a new school, found out I was pregnant, then Chancho left us to come to Texas, I was very ill, my parents became the parents in a lot of ways, then we moved to Texas, into a new house, another new school, then a new baby. Wow. That is a lot for any child.

Starting school this week I feared the backlash of mental breakdowns we'd be experiencing. But the kids have done great. I'm so proud of them. They all like their teachers, they didn't get into the classes with the friends they'd hoped, but have not complained about it and are telling me about the new friends they've made. School starts at 7:30 so we've had to get up at 6:30 to get them ready and there on time. But the only major complaint we've had this week is that the kids have been praying for rain and it still hasn't rained. SC said tonight as I was tickling her back before bed, "I know Jesus wants me to be patient, but its all run out. I need it to rain!"

Here are a few photos that I snapped as the kids walked into school the first day. SC posed nicely for one shot, then she was done and too embarrassed for any others.

they are way too old! Love having watch them grown up even if it is only through stalking!

We've been doing the same kind of reminiscing around here as well - thinking back over the year and all the things we've experienced and felt in our move to Dallas. I'm so glad it's now and not then, aren't you? I'm also so happy your kids are feeling so at home in their new school. What a blessing! We are getting there. And also, your kids are growing like weeds! Or at least the weeds I had before the drought came and killed everything, including my grass, off!
