Coolest Kid in Class

Loumy loves preschool. He asks at least 30 times each morning, "Do I have preschool today?" If he's just been to preschool or if he is having dinner or getting ready for bed or needs an excuse for getting out of bed he'll say, "I need to ask you something. Do I have pwe-skoo to-MOY-oh (tomorrow)?" I always ask him to repeat himself when he says "tomorrow" because I love how he says it. Usually an "r" is just skipped or sounds like "w" but in this specific word it is different. Tomoyo.

A few days ago, while I was on the computer, Loumy came in and we had this conversation:
Loumy: Do I have preschool today?
Me: Yes, but not yet.
Loumy: I'm the coolest kid in the class.
Me: Naturally. But what is it that makes you the coolest kid in the class?
Loumy: I know how to fight pirates.
Me: Of course.
A brief pause.
Loumy: Mom, did you used to be a cool kid?

Me: Yes.
Loumy: Like a boy?
Me: Not exactly. Let me take your picture.

Then he posed. Cool? Yes. I think so.

You already know how I feel about this. Sheesh. I almost pass out at his coolness.

I am so thankful for his most excellent self-esteem! Did this come naturally to him? I bet his parents gave him some additional help though ... as they love him so darn much! But he does have a sort of "coolness" about him that I think was heaven sent. Isaac totally lacks coolness. In order to be "cool", one needs to keep a little air of mystery about them ... to have others come to him ... etc. But Isaac - well, whenever he meets new kids he fawns all over them with hugs, kisses and attention. And frankly, that's just not "cool" to most of these kids. Especially the boys. But Mama loves it :)

Love to you all,
Jodi

thanks, tash. i just found out i have strep so i have to take care of that before they can think about doing anything with my tonsils but i can't take antibiotics, so it will be awhile...anyway, Dr. Major is in my brother John's ward so I think that is who I'll see next time. Thanks for the recommendation. And yes, I do want your Photoshop Elements, please! I have a PC.

thanks, jodi. yes, luckily he has quite a bit of self-esteem and a lot of coolness to him that is completely his own! i wish he an isaac could play together! Loumy loves the chance to play with boys since he's surrounded by girls all day.

I have no doubts that he's the coolest kid in class. Especially after he struck that sweet pose when you asked to take his picture.
