Kelly has no secret name here. Kelly has been my friend since I was 6 years old. She was in my first grade class and I never noticed her until Bill Snotty (yes, that was truly his last name) told me that he liked her. In fact I can remember exactly where I was standing in the courtyard at Carl H. Taylor Elementary. She sat on the edge of the lawn, at the bottom of the hill, right next to the steep steps that are perfect for "red light/green light". She swooshed her long, dark ponytails like she was in a Pantene commercial. Of course Bill Snotty was in love with her! How had I not noticed such a beautiful girl? Hadn't I ever seen that lovely mane when head's went down and thumb's went up for the Head's Up Seven Up game? Well, I was a girl myself so I guess I wasn't really looking...and I was 6. I felt a bit jealous of her at first. Then one day something happened to let me know that maybe Kelly was human. Bill told me that he didn't like her any more because of a certain brown corduroy jumper/dress that her mom made her wear for picture day. He said it was not cute AT ALL. That hardly seemed fair. After all, Bill licked his lips constantly and had scabs all around his mouth and I usually didn't even remember to brush my hair. Somehow I felt a connection to Kelly because Bill didn't like the way she looked in her brown jumpsuit.
I remember the first time Kelly invited me to her house. There were a bunch of tiny kids there. Her mom used to provide childcare. Kelly was excited to show me how soft an actual baby's skin could be. She demonstrated by putting the baby's entire little fist into her mouth (which was also quite small and had some extremely small little teeth). She offered me a chance at the baby's fist. But by that ripe old age, I'd been babysitting for years so it was nothing new to me. But still way cool.
Patti joined my life around the same time and the three of us were pretty inseparable until I left for my mission. Jodi joined us when we were Sophomores. None of us are sure how that happened. Anyway...
Kelly and I were and are both very tall. We were often referred to as the twin towers. Of course you can't call us that now. Not because we care but because of them being blown up and all of that.
I have so many memories that could be shared from spending most of my life with this friend by my side. But these will suffice for now.
Kelly says she can't create her own blog because she's too busy reading mine. And, indeed, she has visited the parlor 6 times while on her vacation in Hawaii this week. She actually even, FINALLY, commented once. So, here's a big shout out to my groovy friend of 27 years. Love you, Kelly!!!

It is so funny that you put this on your blog! I was just thinking of my return trip home and you came to mind. Isn't it funny, that although we have a hard time finding time for each other I consider you, Perla, my sis and part of my "home". I love you so much and I am disappointed that we have a hard time getting together. By the way...you can tell when I read your blog even when I don't comment? Well I guess you have outed me, I love reading yours and your sister's (my sisters too!) blogs! Kelly
I have tried to go to bed but I am troubled that I actually tried to stuff an infant's hand in my mouth. Did I really do that? I remember feeling horrified watching someone doing that but maybe it was me and I was having an out of body experience, YIKES! Or maybe my horrified feeling comes from watching Dave try to stuff his own hand in his own mouth-sexy-Ta Ha, I love that Dave has tried to do that! That is how stupid human tricks get started. Bill Snotty truly missed out (see bangs) your description of him is perfect. Kelly
Awwwwwww...I am wiping the tears from my eyes as I write this. You two need to get together to make this story have a happy ending. Ok, well not an ending, but you really should stop going to yoga or playing soccer on bookclub night and join us Perla. You could then experience first hand Kelly and Natasha throwing down...it's pretty sweet. We all just laugh at them. (Don't tell Kelly or Natasha I said that).
Hey I heard that!!
But seriosuly...Ileft if cuz its funny looking sp
That snotty kid brought you together, how awesome. Yeah you've been avoiding us for 4.5 years now you need to come.
Ohh, I love Kellski and how she wrote on my calendar that my birthday was my "gafarliche wege" -- dangerous way or something and then she drew a picture of someone getting slapped. Those were the days. WHy can't she live at our house anymore!! . . . Maybe because we don't live there and it might not be quite the same for her with just Gordon and Sharon, still. Cheers to you Kelly. And I'm sorry I cheated and NEVER finished my share of the FHE kits. I'm a bad bad person and that is what bad people do.
OH!! And one more thing. I'm sick and tired of you always going on trips all your life, Kelly!! You are going to get a gafarliche wege slap yourself if you don't watch it!! Sometimes I think -- maybe someday we'll get to travel -- when we are all old and it won't even be fun or romantic anymore (oops, sorry older people), but then kelly figures out how to have fun fun trips even while raising small children. This is the pits.
And if that isn't bad enough it is now asking me to type like 35 letters into the word verification spot below.
Thanks, Kelly. I'm excited to have two comments from you! Yes, you put a small baby's fist in your mouth. But then your mom told you that was gross and not to do it again. I understood that you were simply demonstrating that a baby is soft and scrumptuous. I have a six year old. I get it. Oh, and I can only tell that you visited me in Hawaii because of google analytics. It can tell you what area people are visiting you from. So, since you live close to me and others that visit the site, I usually have no idea if you look or not, but this week I was guessing that not many other people in Hawaii were caring that much to read my blog. :) Hope you had a great trip. You out to create a blog and write about it and share photos! :)
This makes me miss hanging out with you on Polk's end. Man I miss those days ever so. You two were like the big sisters I never had. I remember when Kelly brought home a "Thompson Twins Greatest Hits" CD and I thought, "WOW! She is SO cool!" Great, great memories. I LOVE the story about putting a baby's fist in her mouth. That had me dying of laughter. Thanks for sharing this and the photos.
