This is a supplement to the Plabby Salad post. But first, you must think of my father, two-years-old. They'd had baked potatoes for dinner one night and he thought they were absolutely splendid. The next morning he saw a couple of old ones on the counter and he wanted one. He kept trying to tell his mom or dad what he wanted but he couldn't remember the word, just kept pointing. In frustration he finally yelled, "PLABBIES!" And, from that day henceforth, the potato also became known as the "plabby".
Okay, I know you don't even want to try it, but Tia Juana, you little Loca, boiled eggs are great and sometime you just need a protein boost and there is nothing better than a boiled egg cut in half with a little salt and pepa.
Fill a pot with cold water. Put the eggs in. Put in some salt. Put the cold pot of water on the stove and turn it on high. I know it takes longer to boil but the eggs don't crack if you heat them up slowly instead of throwing them into boiling water. Once the water is boiling, turn it down to medium-high and wait for exactly 19 minutes. Take the pot over to the sink and pour out the hot water. Now fill the pot with cold water and keep it running for awhile. After two minutes take out the eggs and bounce them on your counter top, then put them back in the water. Now take them out of the water again and peel them. You will have a perfect egg. If you dare.

So how come mine work when I turn the heat off and lid them like rice?? HuH?? Now I'm worried that I only thougth they worked and they never really did.
And another thing, you are lucky I am leaving two comments because I hate when at the bottom of a post it says "1 comments" but back to the other thing. It is this: I love a good boiled egg but who wants to cook one every day, so if I cook them I cook a bunch, but I really only want them to be warm, and once you take your pre-boiled ones out of the fridge you can try to warm them in the microwave, but if they warm one second too long they explode like crazy, and if you are extra lucky, they wait to explode til you first bit them . . . then they explode directly in your mouth and pretty much kill you dead. So . . .
well, i didn't say that my way was the ONLY way to boil an egg. but its a good way. and for some reason the thought of a re-heated egg almost made me throw up just now. i cannot abide an egg that is not freshly cooked. unless it is in leftover plabby salad.
ps thanks for your thoughtfulness regarding the lowly '1 comment'. now, between the two of us i look totally popular. 4 comments!
Oh, you two make me laugh! Perla, you are such good egg to think of me this way with a post that really is for all my own even though Nancy has barged in and taken it over! Yes P, you are a good egg! And the pun is intended.
And when it comes to eggs I do like them its just that I have never been able to make them. And that is not how I have done them - I've been doing them like Egg-Head-Nancy and now that I know she likes to blow eggs up in the microwave I am convinced that your way is much better than hers and I will try it sometime soon.
But truthfully, more than plabbie salad, my favorite is a hard boiled egg with bacon in a spinach salad and for fun add some fresh little shrimps! Have you ever had that yummy hot bacon dressing on the spinach shrimp salad at Applebees? It is very good and I wish they sold the dressing in a bottle. Because that would be splendid!
It took me like 8 years of adult married life to figure out how to make rice so it seems only fitting that you teach me how to boil eggs at year 17 and 1/2. And how blessed am I that it is before the children are all grown and gone and now we can really celebrate easter next year.
You are the bomb. (Not the blown up egg kind).
And this here post about boiling eggs is going to take the cake in how many people comment. I'm just calling it now! Before the world takes note.
Just so you know, it isn't that 1 comment looks sad, it is the fact that it always uses the plural form of comment (comments) and 1 comments sounds so ridiculous.
love me some boiled plabbies
