Loumy 'Dos

I know I have blogged often about Loumy's hair. Sorry, but it is just too fun to not do new things with it and share them. Loumy has learned, like me, to not be defined by his hair. He has had several looks so far this summer.
It started with little braids/dreads:
Then I picked it out and tried to keep it in this cute 'fro for awhile but it was too hard to keep clean. Every night I would find sticks, dog hair, bird nests, hot wheels cars, etc. and it looked pretty gross. But this photos is fresh from a nice bath and picking out job.
Next came my attempt at cornrows. Only took six hours to do. Can you believe he sits through that? I really liked this look but Chancho said he looked like "Point Dexter".
This next style is what Loumy had been asking for since I let him have something similar the year before. The mohawk! Last year I was trimming his hair with the clippers and decided to cut it in a mohawk for fun before shaving off the rest. He glanced in the mirror and his eyes got all huge. "I want it like THAT!" he cried. So, I taught him to say, "I pity the fool that mess with me!" and let him have it for a few days. He has longed for that style again ever since. This one is special because I even flat ironed it. He thought it was super cool. But it was just a little too crazy to last long with me.
His current mohawk is much shorter but still cute and he is still happy with it. People tell him all the time, "Nice mohawk." I don't know if they really mean it is nice or that it is crazy, but Loumy likes it. It is summer. He is three. Why not have a mohawk?

P.S. Isn't he a beautiful child?

I love the mohawk! And why shouldn't a little kid get to have one? My teenager is currently sporting a faux-hawk and it's dang cute.
You may have to teach Loumy all the Mr. T -isms. I'll have to get my boy to write some down. He uses those and Chuck Norris -isms all the time.

Yup, just like his t-shirt says, 'YOU RULE'!!

I love it, I love that you did it, I love that he wanted one. It's what being a kid in america is all about - doing what you want...as long as it's legal. ;-) His hair is WAY legal!!

Love ya

Ohh they are all awesome. I think the dreads are my favorite but mostly my favorite is that somehow you know how to work with every conceivable type of hair. He could never have such cool looks if I was his sad mother! I laughed so hard about the fro getting too dirty. I'd never thought of that and I loved picturing little sticks and HOT WHEELS and so forth just stuck in his hair. I can't wait to see him!!!!

Where oh where did you learn to do corn rolls? Did they teach you how to do that before they let you have him - a different kind of parenting class perhaps. You do rule to know how to do that - especially if you just 'picked up' the skill like something you'd buy at the market.

Yes, you do rule.

I laughed so hard when you said his hair gets so gross that you even find BIRD NESTS in it. We have the same problem. It is like a piece of velcro. Anything and everything attaches itself to this hair. And to think I complained about how difficult my hair was....not even!

oh I just love the nappy mohawk short and long but short looks dashing...I hope you got some vid of the boy pitying the fools!!! I wish I had a loumy that I could braid for 6 hours ha ha
Also I can't believe it could hide toys.. Maybe now they will have to not let terrorists on plains with nappy hair that could be hiding some potentially dangerous items...

The fro was my favorite, too bad it gets so dang dirty. Why is it that boys like mohawks so much? Ashton has only been allowed to wear a faux hawk, but when it gets too long and I comb it more flat he just looks in the mirror and cries and cries saying that his hair is not cool anymore.

i just figured out the hair by myself. i love to play with hair. my sisters can attest to some not-so-good and some okay haircuts that i would give them when we were younger. hey, its not like anybody was taking us anywhere to get a haircut! but i do like doing hair. i have been asked to do my niece's hair several times, especially different kinds of braiding and i think it is very fun. i used to braid my own hair, but not so much these days

ps ~ tia juana, loumy is 3.5 years old. he just has one of those faces that looks older. even in some of his photos when he was 6 months old and weighed 7 pounds, you could almost see just what he was going to look like as an adult. and that would be HANDSOME, if you ask me!

Hate the mohawk. He looks like a gang member.
