String Cheese is very creative and comes up with so many fun things for the other kids to do. Younger kids love to play with her because she is a very good director. Well, she is good with kids her age, too, but they don't like her telling them what to do quite as much. :) I am very grateful for this because I rarely have to worry about limiting TV time or anything. The kids are always busy playing, "Nickelodeon Cruise Ship", "Enchanted Fairy Land", "Medical Hospital", "Pre-school", "Gymnastics Class", "Beauty Parlor", etc. etc. When I was little I only remember two games: "house" and "boat" (the same as "house" but on two chairs that we had turned into a flotation device). Oh yeah, how could I forget, "hot lava"? And why is it that nobody teaches kids that there is a game called "hot lava"? They just know it. One day they are standing on a chair and it comes to them. "Hey," they will say, "I know! Let's pretend the floor is hot lava! Come on, everybody, let's play 'hot lava'!" Nobody has to suggest it. It is instinct, I think.
One of the most recent games SC invented is called "dance school/opera". String Cheese dresses Deedle in some kind of dance attire and then teaches her various "performances". Deedle is rarely allowed to make a sound, rather she must act out whatever opera SC is singing.
Yesterday we had a little cousin, Madeline, over to play. SC was thrilled to have two students. Luckily they allowed her to tell them what to do, how to act, what to say, what not to say, etc. etc. for several hours. I was painting in a nearby room and found their performances very entertaining. So, I came in with the camera and asked if they might perform for me. String Cheese quickly came up with a new "routine". I don't exactly understand the story line, but found it quite enjoyable.

Hee hee that is so dang cute! I love that move! O and please don't forget "Cops and Robbers"
NoniGirl thought that was pretty funny as she watched it on my lap. I never get those story lines but they are pretty entertaining even still. I used to love when my girls would go up on that weed-jungle hill in our backyard and play princesses. NoniGirl would tell Chookie that she had to "die" and then she would shout very distressed as she fell to the ground "FRIEND!" Every once in a while I will randomly shout out "Friend!" and they just roll their eyes at me.
Oh I love that she is so creative in her play. Daisy would LOVE to be making up dances and plays with someone like Grace. She gets very sad because unlike Addie, Goldie utterlyl refuses to EVER let Daisy come up with any rule or plan that she must follow. Ohhh, that awful awful wedding day. How could it!!??
But, mostly I was laughing my head off at your first paragraph because yes, house and boat. Boat was fun, but especially hot lava. It must be instinct. I am sad giang was always melting in the hot lava as he slept with none of us ever warning or trying to rescue him!
The Dukes of Hazzard was our game, we had many Daisies and all we did was climb in and out of car windows.
OH, Kelly is totally right!! I forgot that Lizzie and I loved to play the Dukes of Hazzard . . . we always fought over who got to be married to the blonde Duke. Bo? Luke? How I'd forgotten . . . but then, maybe that was just another version of "house" what with us being married and all.
My goodness, my kids play hot lava too! So tell your kids my house is flowing with it LOL. Oh and I heard your Loumy has a mowhawk! I finally went to the dreaded yearly!
Oh how I've missed you my Perla friend. My boys were asking if Andre was going to be @ Soccer Camp next week. Lets plan a day or join us for our park day on wed.
here i come and visit, and no new posts, then this morning there had been one right after the other. how ever am i going to keep up? :)
i love visiting and reading what's going on ... good luck with the floor installation. so impressed you're going to do it yourself. :) and i LOVE the "made in utah" converstations. nice to know there are some fun things just from here. ... and i mostly love your kids (who i don't even really know) but i love that they are so creative and such good friends. they must have a good example in their mom. :)
I just love that SC is so darn creative. My two little darlings follow me around all day wanting me to entertain them. Where are their imaginations? When my friends and I were little we used to hop on our bikes with notepads in hand and pretend we were Charlie's Angels. We all fought over who got to be Chris and Kelly, nobody wanted to be Sabrina. Poor Sabrina!
and the oscar for "stage direction" goes to ....
STRING CHEESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome, I love watching creative goofy minds at work and this was just that in RAW form!!!
Thanks for sharing
I laughed right out loud. Drama Queen - literally.
The other girls are so sweet to just do what she says. She has no idea how much they admire her, I'm sure.
I was so moved when she died... Very moving plot! It draws you right in!!
SC seems so confident in her directing, she knows just where her play is headed. I'm a little concerned for her dislike of weddings- did she have a traumatic event? :)
