A Rough Week for Deedle

My sweet Deedle is so feisty. Sometimes I just don't know what to do. I love her fire and her determination. I don't want to squelch it. But sometimes trying to channel it in the right direction can be a real challenge.A while ago we started an allowance chart. It has worked really well, mostly. The kids all start with $2 and if they break a rule or don't obey after being told to do something a few times then they will lose a quarter. At the end of the week we so how much money they have left and then we help them divide it up into their spending money, savings, and tithing. This new tool has completely eliminated any problems that we had with String Cheese getting ready for school in the morning or for dance (she likes both, she just doesn't like being told she has to have something done at a certain time). This wasn't her best week (last week she lost zero quarters), but it wasn't too bad. Loumy has done very well and is very proud of the money he is earning. Anyway...as you can see from this chart alone, Deedle had a rough week. I don't really know why I'm posting this or what else to say except that I love this child so much but sometimes I feel inadequate. I guess we all feel that way sometimes. Right? Right??

i know what you mean about having those inadequate feelings ... i feel them more often than not. my little cole is full of independence too -- maybe i'll adopt your chart/allowance idea and see how it goes. :)
i hope she has a better week!

Amen sister. Sometimes I don't know if I'm teaching them anything or just spending all my time getting on their case for being trouble!!! But, at present all I want is to sing, "Deedle deedle deedle, I made it out of something" -- I don't even really know the words, but it is some Jewish "Dreidle" song and I don't know why I haven't wanted to sing it to Deedle all this time because it is all I can think when I hear her name now. Maybe you should just sing that when you get frustrated.

I am totally going to do this!
And can I just say...these are the BEST EVER pictures! I just want to be holding that little beauty with her perfect soft features. And watching those pure blue eyes stare.

I think that being a parent is the hardest thing I have ever done. I feel like that today. My adorbale 3 year old is enough to drive me crazy sometimes. Let me know if you find the secret to stong willed chilren.
She is so dang cute!

Oh My Totally Freakin' Heck! We did the SAME THING for allowance when I was a kid, except I think it was a dollar and the increments were dimes.

Deedle, my sister... I've TOTALLY been there. Trust me, this too shall pass!

Although, there have been times as an adult when I wished that I had something visual and explanatory (like an allowance chart) that I could "wear on my sleeve" so people would know it might be best to just leave me alone for a bit and come back when I'm having "a full dollar week."

Somethings never change.

I know the feeling. If they could just get it the 1st time, wouldn't it make life so much easier?

pobre Deeds! I have one just like that who will drag you down to hell just to make her point she doesn't care how much trouble she gets in just as long as you are as miserable as her....

I totally agree that we all feel inadequate at times...I know I am feeling that way lately with Jax. You are a great and patient mom though. I like your quarter chart...what a good idea. Hopefully nex week she has a better week:O).

Good day, sun shines!
There have were times of hardship when I didn't know about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright stupid person.
I have never imagined that there weren't any need in large initial investment.
Now, I'm happy and lucky , I started take up real income.
It gets down to select a correct companion who uses your money in a right way - that is incorporate it in real deals, parts and divides the profit with me.

You may get interested, if there are such firms? I have to tell the truth, YES, there are. Please be informed of one of them:
