A Superficial Post

This is very superficial and probably very boring, so don't feel obligated to comment or anything. I just wanted to record this for my own journaling.

My mother is the epitome of the word charity. Look it up in Webster's and you will find her picture. Because of her I am not as superficial and materialistic as I'm sure I would otherwise be. I'm sure she wishes that I cared even less and less about the things of this world and I am slowly getting there. Because of my upbringing, then, I am slightly ashamed to admit how excited I am for my late-birthday, early-Christmas present I bought for myself with extra money I made by translating a website. We have a bed!

Now, the truth is, we have had a very wonderful and comfortable bed for 4 years. Chancho came into our marriage with an old queen sized-bed and we were happy for it. It held on as long as it could but eventually gave up the ghost and we got an extremely comfortable and happy mattress and box springs. Chancho has seen no need for a bed frame or anything. It feels the same, doesn't it? Well, not to me. It feels totally different now. And I so love the RC Willey Outlet store where I could get my pretty mahogany bed for 80% off and a matching dresser!

So, sorry to be superficial but I really love my new bed and, as you can see, it does still feel the same to Chancho and the kids during the nightly dog-piling, wrestling session.P.S. For those of you who think I am such a Scrooge about Twilight, I will let you know that I saw the movie yesterday and I liked it and was so glad that nobody was screaming or clapping through it or I'm sure I wouldn't have liked it as much.

Your mom won't comment. I totally love and am worldly jealous of your bed, but I'd be even way more covetous if it was a king size bed because all I want is to be able to nurse my babies in bed while I sleep with out feeling like they will roll off on one side or be squished by Mike on the other.
And, I liked the Twilight movie too -- even if a few faces were too powdery, but I am also thrilled noone was clapping or swooning or it might have made a mess of things. Later skater.

I didn't mean your mom won't comment like -- this is worldly, she won't comment. I meant it smart alecy because you said we don't have to comment so I was like, "whatever, your mom won't comment." With me? WHere's my christmas music speaking of charity?

Worldly nothing! I loved Pres. Uchtdorf's talk in the RS meeting, how he said it is good, and it is being like our Heavenly Father, to beautify the places we live, to make them so nice that even the angels would want to be there. And I'm sure that wasn't meant to justify being extravagant and selfish with the material things we put into our homes, but I think it is just really nice when we can have a few nice things in our houses that make them look extra good and make us happier to be in them. I'm excited for the day we will buy a bed--not just the mattress and box springs on a metal frame.

Dang you!!!!!! Now look at how disatissified you've made me. I want to not have my baby fall out of bed and I want to turn freely and have all the room I need to stretch.

I haven't read the Twilight books ... and am thinking I wouldn't like them very much. I do SO love fantasy teen fiction though ... but these just seem so "teeney-bopper" for me. Maybe I am a scrooge too.

I am not jealous because I have a king size tempurpedic, unfortunately I must share it with a really loud snorer who is in denial.
But I am worldly happy for you and your new bed!
But beds aren't really worldly they are etherworldly.
they transport you to somewhere else. Also like us in certain times of our lives we must stay in them when we are weak. So you go girl.
P.S. I just read about your (-s)HE! Congrats to Loumy who gets a brother! The girls have one and he doesn't so, its only fair.

P.S. I think the bed is the most important appliance in the house because you spend 1/3 of your life on it.
Are you riding in style???
Now you are!!

Oh great now I have to work on my covettisness. (Is that a word? and if it is, pretend it's spelled correctly.) Very nice, very nice.

I thought I was the only gal in the world who has not read the Twilight books. You could say I'm a bit Scrooge-ish about it. I'll probably break down and see the movie though.

Perla-
Kurt and I were able to buy a used sleigh bed and matching dresser a couple of years ago and I still go up and pat the headboard every so often - it makes such a difference to our otherwise freebie and hand-me-down decor! Your bed is gorgeous and I'm jealous of the king-size mattress - we have a queen and of the boys end up in bed with us it gets pretty crowded. Hurray for beds!
Also - congrats on the little boychik that's coming. That's wonderful news!
