Oh, how I love alternative medicine! Most those of us that are converted have been forced to convert because Allopathy has failed us in many ways. I love love love my two chiropractors, Dr. Giles and Dr. Skaggs. I have been receiving help from TG (Dr. Giles) for 10 years now and have become more and more converted over time. Dr. Skaggs has come into my life more recently and has already helped me completely overcome--as in become healed from and no longer bothered at all by--many of my allergies.
The chiropractors I see are both very religious men of the Christian variety (LDS) and use no voudou in their practices. But since a lot of what they do seems so strange, friends have often teased me. After a prolonged illness at the beginning of my marriage, my husband asked, "Why haven't you gone to see your witch doctor? What does he say?"
If you really want to learn about the techniques that are used, then you should learn. But most people don't. Those that have seen me getting treated or have ventured to give it a shot themselves are often skeptical, and many do not follow through because it is so un-traditional. Anyway, I was just thinking about this because today I went to see Dr. Giles again and now **knock on wood** my strep throat is almost gone. I went to see him Friday and he asked what he always asks, "Why did you wait so long to come in?" He made me sit in a sauna with mud all over my body, then I sat in a chair with a light beam and sound generator making noise and my feet in a bucket of water with lights, then a lady gently massaged the lymph nodes on my neck with a light beam. Then I went and did the same thing today. And meanwhile I've been taking these supplements that are supposed to help your body kill of bacteria and viruses. And I had to rub a really gross herb on my tonsils with a q-tip and try not to throw up. So, I did all that. And now I'm better! Hurray! That was a long one. Maybe next time I will finally go see my "witch doctor" before a month of illness goes by.

i can honestly say i don't have a "witch doctor" but i'm all about doing what it takes to get better! i'm glad you've found something (and sounds like some great "someones") that works for you. :) hope you are on the mend!!!
Perla Perla Perla. Ok, I totally believe in do what works. So, on Sunday I'm at this Activities Committee meeting at this woman's house and this college girl drops by (to give her a lezbo massage! Ha!)and she's there to use this cool machine on the woman because she just got a shoulder replaced and this machine is supposed to help with the pain. In talking to the girl I found out that she used it for her asthma. She used to have to use her inhaler twice a day and now it's bben a couple of months since she's used it at all. It balances the energies in your body. I told her about you. She'll use it on you if you'd like. Call me.
I'm all about witch doctors sweetie...I haven't been able to find one, of my liking in my new area...SAD.
I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. Take care. I'm sure I'll be talking to you sometime soon and I'll see you at the meeting on the 19th!
Love ya
You know we all love Troy because he's been a miracle worker on you and he did help me when I couldn't eat any veggies with out my mouth flaring up, but mostly I like Dr. Skaggs because I want to run to Skaggs to buy some groceries or other small items . . . or was it Grandcentral? Either way.
That is so cool, I don't know how to find one! I was so impressed by my mom, she tried acupuncture a couple of weeks ago :)
glad u r better
I commented on back rubs back on my blog, so go see.
My friend the witch doctor, he taught me what to say
{Just the tenors!}
My friend the witch doctor, he taught me what to do
{Everybody!}
I know that you'll be mine when I say this to you: Ooo eee, ooo ah ah, ting tang, walla walla bing bang... you know the rest.
Truthfully, kid, I believe there are elements of "truth" in all things and that no one current method cures all. I say go with what works and what your husband will support. The best I ever felt was with a particular type of chiro doc whilst I was a missionary in Florida. Let's just say when hubby saw what the doc did and expressed his complete disbelief mingled with large amounts of ridicule, I wasn't able to persue that method of healing now that I'm married.
I'm also very curios to know the name they're marketing the lezbo-massage-shoulder-replacement-asthma-machine as. That's quite a diverse title.
thanks for all the nice comments. i'm feeling better and even played soccer tonight (and scored a goal) wahoo! and no, meg, my ovaries did not get crushed by anybody tonight.
lori, that is an awesome title for the machine. i'm going to find out about it and will let you know what guise its going under. haha.
